Somewhat related to books and press - I discovered an adorable site and shop called: leafcutterdesigns.com

I found it through this image of their tiny newspaper, and they have mini mail of all kinds! It is so clever, it hurts.



I am now considering whether I want my zine to actually resemble a newspaper. Also, thinking about all the people I'd like to mail things to, and it's a bit overwhelming. Because of quarantine, there's even a greater reason to use the post service.

I also learned something new: you can mail potatoes, individually:

f.o.w. lyric book

While technically not a press-related post, I designed a little lyric book, which I am proud of for its effective simplicity. It contains the lyrics for a collection of songs I recently recorded and compiled onto a CD, under the name "f.o.w."  You can find my album for purchase here .  Some images of the spreads: For those who are curious, the symbol upon the cover is the position of the earth relative to the sun during the season of Fall. Which, you may deduce, is when events I wrote about took place. Also, that is me, attempting to get down from a wall.  tmp

My Bible, revisited

I have officially decided to attempt to publish the 'my bible' project which I undertook two years ago for a class. My professor greatly encouraged me to try, and so I did, but realized there is nothing out on the market similar to it that I can find. I searched and proposed it wherever I could, but no positive response resulted. In order for me to publish it, I will have to finalize everything on my own, and find alternate ways to publicize it.  For now, while there is no success guaranteed or even much success in sight, I am pursuing re-approaching this project to completion (I only finished the illustrating & noting the Old Testament) and will worry about advertising later. It may be silly, but I do believe this book, with 67 illustrations and comments referring to each book of the Bible, would be worth at least $25 for collectors, or aspiring ones too.  After going through many different style variations, I've decided to focus on my simple graphite approach, pair...

a journal - completed booklet

I have at last completed what began as a new zietgiest book. In the end it became a small book of writings taken from my journal, sorted into categories. I wanted to find a way to create publishable material with things that I've been writing in my journals, as that's where I express most of my thoughts. Through the process, I discovered clear themes of topics: poetry, writings about dreams, writings about walks, after reading a murakami novel, and relating to food. For the food topic though, I simplified it to recipes I use most often.  The format had to be condensed but still clear, so I kept it to a basic Roboto font I often like to use for my blogs, and the chunks of text side by side in columns. Because each page is a quarter size of letter dimensions piece of paper, it only uses 3 sheets total.  My dad remarked he'd have a hard time reading it, but I also didn't really intend to have him read it, so honestly it doesn't bother me.
